so... at my job i get to do things like write lists of songs i like called playlists. NIIIIICE!!!
this little doozie is a good one for anyone who's just broken up. i'm not gonna lie... if you're a guy, it's not as great for you. but whatever! you can still groove along. to quote myself, "you can always do better than a boy who doesn't value you in all your goddess glory." DAMN FUCKING STRAIGHT!
enough said.
imagine if society was musicless? it'd absolutely suck. it's interesting how all cultures have music and rely on it to fill silences, to help celebrate, to dance to, to cry to, to laugh to, et cetera.
on vacation, i met a piano player named fidelio. i felt sort of sorry for him, overweight and drunk, taking requests from middle-aged women for sweet caroline five times a night. but after they left, i sat there in my green dress, drinking a grapefruit martini and he played all the songs i requested that he knew. (he didn't know any NIN.) sometimes he'd play something and change the words (lady in a green dress) to suit me. was i sad that he was trying to get with me? not really, he chose the fate of singalong pianist on a cruise ship. it was flattering.
then i thought about how i never listen to any live blues. that's my goal, this year. to go to a place where some dude at a piano plays fucking bb king and nina simone. something SOULFUL. not that i don't enjoy a good pop tune.
at the club with the young people, we listened to some top forty from a few weeks ago (i guess it's hard to get new stuff on a floating vessel) and i now have fond memories of my love, which to be honest, i didn't really care about before. now it makes me happy. i love when you hear a song and associate with an event. that's the best. so, for your visual and audial pleasure ... click on JT.
